Guide dogs

I have been considering getting involved with guide dogs for quite a while now, ever since my mum suggested that becoming what is called on the website "a puppy walker" would give me the opportunity to get used to having a puppy around, training and looking after a dog without having to take the responsibility on for life without truely realising what you are getting yourself into (you only look after each puppy for one year). She was trying to calm my insatiable desire for a dog. Originally not completely absorbed by this argument as i thought i would be so distressed having to give away my puppy, even though it would be moving on to doing something so valuable, that i would be too traumatised to ever have another dog i am gradually coming round to the idea. The actually taking on a puppy won't be until i finish uni and get my own place, and in the mean time i'm getting more and more interested in getting involved and am considering volunteering generally for the charity.
For anyone else who is interested in guide dogs this is the official uk website. The picture on this post is from that website. Here is an interesting blog about guide dogs where guide dog owners post. A blog here is actually following the life of a puppy walker! This entry relating to guide dogs on a random blog made me giggle (so immature but i don't care!). And this blog had an genius idea to stop those annoying people who insist on petting guide dogs when they are working!

This is sweet...

This little 9 year old child is trying to gather enough money to get herself a horse (an Andalusian- expensive taste for a small child- to start herself a herd - so quite ambitious too!) and the way she is getting money is by collecting and decorating horse shoes that she then sells from her website! Check out the site here.
Such a cute idea! She paid back her parents the website set up costs in one week so she's doing pretty well i would say!

I think the world is pretty....

and you know what, i actually do. Some days i wake up and just think wow look how amazing the world is, the trees, the ground, the sky, family, friends, people in general, animals, EVERYTHING! and i don't even care if that sounds sad, i think the world is great! in this way even if i'm down i have no right to be, coz i'm lucky coz i'm here living this!
the picture with this entry is of the cute little Tamarin monkey at Marwell Zoo. Just because i think he is very cute!

Browsing Blogs

I wonder how many people actually do this (blog browsing), i currently do this alot when i am bored and i've found a few blogs that i think are quite interesting and so i'm going to put the links here, for me so i can find them again as much as they are for anyone else to check out!

i searched for Southampton University which came up with alot of things about the ECS building fire, which i won't bore you with the details of, if you want to know anything about it search the blogs and you will find about 10,000,000 entries saying the same thing. The picture along with this entry is of a new forest pony and foal that i took in the New Forest, which is near Southampton, and therefore the university. Much more interesting than the fire i personally think!

then i searched for Law Student and it came up with some long ass blog about someone who actually appears to do nothing except law and discuss law books, umm you're boring, and some forum which is apparently for black law students which is something i always think is ridiculous, to say you have more in common with someone simply because of the colour of their skin is insane sterotyping!

sitting in the lounge with r and c and they were talking about speed cameras so i thought i'd search for it and found this interesting extreme blog Speed/Revenue Cameras seems like a good place to rant and discuss stupid ideas like legalising undertaking. Enjoy... but not too much... maybe only when your really mad about speed cameras.

I moved onto searching for films that interest me, my favourite film "The Notebook" appears to not be interesting to enough people to have its own blog but thats fair enough so then i thought "Pay it Forward" because the whole making the world a better place theme must have caught on somewhere. Here is the site i found. I knew someone had to have done it, and i say good on them, although i think there would be much more effective ways to get it going. It also seems to be a popular chinese/japanese topic which i don't really get but then i'm not chinese or japanese so that'll probably be why!

Searching for tv series' was pretty difficult too, "Lost" which i love, came up with a lot of random links which were largely unrelated, "Smallville" threw up this site which although not being all that interesting in what they are saying is worth a look just for the interesting background ;), "the OC" came up with a site that tells you the state of the series etc from america, i'm not so keen on this site just because it looks like mine and i like fan sites to have a made a bit of effort with the html but hey, it also gives you interesting (if your interested in the OC) random information about the actors etc! "Neighbours" this is the one that amused me the most as apparently there is a European Neighbours Day... no really that link is the site lol, and nothing about the actual show :( how sad for them. Finally "One Tree Hill" threw up several sites, personally i like the top of this site to show you what i mean about effort with html.
and then i got bored with searching blogs as a waste of time...

In case you want to know ahead of time about the new episodes and new series of the OC or Lost these are the official sites keeping up to date with the American airing of the series!: the OC and Lost.

I think perhaps i have overdone the links etc. and so i will leave it there today!

PhotoBlogs, Ads and Websites!

Earlier i started browsing at photoblogs.org and found some interesting photoblog sites that i wanted to tell everyone about. the first is Alexander Zabergin's Horse Photos from A to Z. This site is a must see for anyone who loves horses, and for anyone who likes photography in general! The only downside being that the site is not in english and so you have to use your initiative when trying to move from picture to picture. Play guess which link is 'next photo'!

Also interesting is Ride My Pony which i came across completely by accident! There are plenty of high def. interesting pictures here not based in any particular subject. This means that every picture will appeal differently which is great.

Some of the sites are very "artsy" which i like, but not to the extent of "oh really... so thats a... cat?! oh its not a cat, its a chair?!... no? ohhhhhhhhhh its a specially photographed leaf!" I'm tending to lean more towards the happy, nature, friendship etc pictures. There seems to be a limit to my abstract intake, too much and i gain a thumping headache!

I seem to always be talking about adverts so far here but i have to say that i'm rolling around laughing at the new Barclays Bank ads! The virtually theft proof card (brilliant!), and the special glowing ball that tidies up have definately won my heart. If i didn't have an account with them i doubt it would make me open one... but in relation to product awareness they have done a fantastic job! Not so sure about the machine that is going to take over the company, but its all good!

A great website for all us girls who like girly gadgets is Shiny Shiny and accordingly if your a girl who likes gadgets i recommend you check it out! A like for gadgets isn't even that necessary to enjoy the site, but of course if you do like then don't miss it! It is the only site that i've actually wanted to check to see if there is anything new online!

Right must run as i have a jumping lesson soon, of course i don't really jump, the horse does that...

A Pretty Ad from Sony, and Other Things...

I am loving the new Sony Bravia tv advert! It's just great! If you haven't seen it i'd say look out for it but its actually pretty hard to miss, those channel flickers amongst you (we know who you are!) hit the link, but you won't get the full effect! Now speaking for my inner child, who wouldn't want to throw 250,000 bouncy balls down a sunny San Francisco street! I know i'm already yearning to do it (me and my housemate Laura have had lengthly discussions of the implications and cost etc. of such a thing down University Road... hypothetically of course) and i wonder how many recreations are going to hit the news causing havoc! I'm also lead to wondering how much bouncy ball sales are increasing as a result... which reminds me where can i get one from?...

I'm also loving the increase in pink phone selling as completely ridiculous as it sounds! I like my phone to be a bit girled up, and the increase in the competition from bigger name companies may make the original pink phone creators think about making a phone pretty... and shock horror... with some features we can actually use!!!
I personally still don't think we're there yet, for example rubbish VGA camera on the pink motorola v3, only being able to hold 20 (20!?!) text messages on the pretty VK mobiles from Vodafone and ridiculous compact style phones with crazy round key pads so we have to learn to text all over again?!
I say bring on phones that have megapixel cameras, at least 1.3mp, a large internal memory for EVERYTHING so if you have less pictures you can hold more text messages for example (an issue i have with my Samsung d500, i have 400 pictures saved on it, and have to keep repeatedly deleting my txt msgs because my 220 sms msg space is full, although i have tons more media memory, who the hell needs to keep more than 400 pictures on their phone at once, and i definately need more txt space!) and nice fonts (Samsung have definately cornered the market in that!), that aren't boring to use (Nokia? are you listening?) and that are preferably in nice girly colours like baby blue, pink and purple!
I don't think i'm asking too much, and i also, unlike others, do not feel insulted by the companies stereotyping all girls as wanting girly colours (i don't want a chunky ugly grey man phone!)!

Feeling a little stressed currently as have sooooooooooo much work to do! In between trying to keep all my tutors happy, i have to attend lectures, do JCR stuff, do Arabic work and go riding!
Ok well maybe i don't HAVE to go riding but its the only thing i want to do at the moment so i'm keeping that... Rode a cute pony last Saturday called Hercules, non-riders won't understand what i mean but we just clicked and worked really well together! The last jump was absolutely perfect! :) I'm taught by Sally Thompson (she's ridden in top TOP competitions!) and she's a really great teacher! Got a jumping lesson on Saturday which should be cool, hopefully i'll get Herc again, he's a sweetheart!

Right must go do some prep, law fair tommorrow as well... ah!...
